At Camp Funkist
We offer: Sports - Music - Art n’ Crafts - Swimming - T rips - And a host of extra activities including: nature & science, Camp Fun Days, special activities, and more!
For our 5- year olds, parents can choose option with trips or without trips. In addition, we encourage campers to sign-up with friends.
Sports Program: Led by a qualified Sports Specialist, the sports program is geared to get everyone involved. How the game is played is emphasized more than who wins, and fun for everyone is the goal!
Music: Our Music specialist leads groups in learning traditional camp songs, exploring music and instruments from other countries, and practicing for the Funkist Talent Showcase
Arts n’ Crafts: Jewelry making? Beading? Sculpture? All these and more are activities that children will be able to take part in during arts and crafts. A host of arts media awaits their pleasure.
Swimming: Our nationally recognized, year-round aquatics program turns its focus toward camp during the summer. Children will receive lessons from a certified instructor who has years of experience working with children of all ages.
Trips: Once a week, every camp group will get the chance to explore the world beyond class. The older campers and the younger campers will often visit different locations to ensure that all age groups get the most out of their camp “vacations” Trips in the past have included: the Bronx Zoo, The Norwalk Aquarium, Build-A-Bear, Playland Park, Splashdown, Sportsworld, and the Yorktown Community Theatre
Curriculum: Centered around a theme for every two-week session, themes guide our activities toward a culminating event such as Camp Olympics or the Camp Funkist Talent Showcase.
Staffing: We maintain ratios higher than the mandated ratios. Age groups are divided into teams under the direct supervision of enthusiastic counselors.
Travel Camp provides an option for 12 & 13 year olds. Open to youth up through age 15. Two week sessions.
